DESCRIPTION:Moray Art Centre welcomes Jim McCombie and Andrew Newton\, as t
 hey present their artwork in a new exhibition\, exploring the themes and c
 rossovers within modern street art and ancient Celtic art.\n\nAndrew Newto
 n has used his skills and experience as a photographer to capture images o
 f incredible street art around Europe and the UK. He has presented these f
 ascinating images in a unique and interesting way. Many hours of skilled p
 hoto-editing are involved in creating these amazing pieces of art. Each ci
 ty’s street art and culture have been cleverly included within his fasci
 nating\, colourful and highly detailed photographic collages\, based on po
 pular board games. Andrew’s work is a feast for the eyes and will also g
 enerate a chuckle of recognition from anyone familiar with the locations a
 nd the board games of our childhood.\nJim McCombie draws inspiration for h
 is work from ancient Celtic art found in stone carvings and illuminated ma
 nuscripts. These traditional zoomorphic themes have been brought to life i
 n a unique\, colourful\, three dimensional and deconstructed form which he
  has explored and developed over a number of years. The images are execute
 d in oils on canvas using the Flemish technique of monochrome underpaintin
 g followed by many subsequent layers of transparent colour. This technique
 \, using hand made artist quality oil paint\, creates a sense of depth and
  vibrancy of colour.
