SUMMARY:Interpreting the Landscape
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will be taking inspiration from 3 great B
 ritish artists and their approach to the landscape!\nJoin artist Helen A N
 oyce on a journey to widen expressive approaches when interpreting the lan
 dscape. This 5 day course will scrutinise the loose &amp\; evocative style
  of Joan Eardley\; the semi abstract &amp\; surrealist interpretations of 
 Graham Sutherland\, and the suggestive\, spontaneous collages of John Pipe
 r\, inspiring you to explore impulsive and open mark making in your own wo
 rk.\nWhat to expect over the 5 days:\nThe week will be divided into 3 equa
 l sessions\, each starting with a talk by Helen on the artist in hand. Tim
 e will be given to a practical task where you will explore expressive mark
  making techniques used by the artist using a variety of materials\, techn
 iques and tools\, including ink\, watercolour\, acrylic\, papers\, sand\, 
 grass\, wax resist\, impasto\, palette knife and sticks. A full day will b
 e dedicated for the creation of art work in the style of each artist.\nWha
 t will I learn?\n\n 	\nInsight into the life\, work and inspiration of eac
 h artist\n\n 	\nTo create space in your practice to play\, explore &amp\; 
 experiment using a range of materials\, techniques and tools\n\n 	\nTo exp
 lore the space between realism and abstraction\n\n 	\nPractical steps to d
 iscover your own artistic voice\n\n\nWho would this course suit?\nHelen’
 s enthusiasm creates the ideal conditions for venturing into experimentati
 on and abstraction. If a gestural and emotive approach to landscape appeal
 s to you\, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn tips and techniques fo
 r creating textured and intriguing art work.\nWhat to bring?\nBring a sele
 ction of your own landscape/seascape images/photos to work from\, preferab
 ly inspired by artworks by the 3 artists.\n\n 	\nLunch included\n\n 	\nAll
  materials provided\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR TUTOR\nHelen studied fine art at
  Edinburgh College of Art and has a particular interest in the abstracted 
 landscape. Her work is a journey of personal enquiry &amp\; discovery thro
 ugh experimentation &amp\; mixed media\, allowing an exploration of spirit
 ual\, philosophical and psychological states. Her aim as an artist is to c
 apture a sense of beauty\, awe\, spontaneity\, light and life\, inspired b
 y nature. Recent works have taken her on a new path and are based on a dee
 p interest in psychology where high vibrating emotions are explored such a
 s peace\, bliss and abundance. She has been a selected member of the Socie
 ty of Graphic Fine Art\, exhibiting in London including Bankside. Helen ha
 s been teaching art for over 20 years.
