SUMMARY:'Shan Hui' (Mountain and River): Chinese Brush & Ink Painting
DESCRIPTION:The first landscape paintings in history are from the Tang dyna
 sty in China. The Song dynasty of the 12th century elevated the art of lan
 dscape to a high status.\n\nUsing Bamboo pens &amp\; brushes we will look 
 at the style and technique of Chinese painting known as 'Shan Hui' (Mounta
 in and River). This technique was influenced by Daoist and Taoist philosop
 hy which was all about our connection to nature and our place within it. T
 his style of painting which became known as caligraphic painting has had a
  huge influence on Western art\, including artists such as Van Gogh and th
 e abstract Impressionists.\n\nJonathan will provide guidance and demonstra
 tions on the technique which will give you an insight into this wonderful 
 style and will improve your drawing and painting skills.\n\nMaterials and 
 refreshments included. Please bring along a packed lunch.\n\nThe image att
