SUMMARY:The Exhibition Process – Online
DESCRIPTION:The Exhibition Process – Online\n\nSUITABLE FOR AGES 16 &amp\
; OVER\n\nLearn from the local moray based established artis\, Mary Bourne
about the exhibition process. Everything from what is needed to approach
a gallery to\, to preparing your artwork and documents to allow a seamless
exhibition process. Learn how the curation of work can change as the site
of an exhibition changes and how the creative output from a community bas
ed project is formed and how a project goes from an idea\, to engagement t
o output.\n\nMary Bourne is a Visual artist based in rural Scotland. Her wo
rk\, predominantly in carved natural stone\, reflects on man’s relations
hip with his environment and on themes of subjectivity\, the passage of ti
me and change. Mary alongside artist Lynne Strachan formed the project Cab
rach reconnections. This project’s aim was to find ways for people to re
connect with each other through arts activities and to get out and enjoy t
he stunning scenery and wildlife in the area\, reconnecting with nature in
the Cabrach.. At the same time\, this exhibition of artwork developed in
response to what the artists have learned will promote The Cabrach further
afield and encourage people to come and enjoy it.\n\nMary has also exhibi
ted widely in Britain and abroad. She has received a number of prizes and
awards including the Meyer Oppenheim Award (1997) and Ireland Alloys Award
(1996)\, both from the Royal Scottish Academy. Internationally\, she has
been an invited participant at symposia in America and Japan. BLURB FROM A
 RTIST Cabrach Reconnections\, a collaboration between Moray-based artists\
, Mary Bourne and Lynne Strachan\, is an exploration of The Cabrach\, a re
mote\, depopulated area just on the Moray side of the border with Aberdeen
shire.\n\nThrough their research\, walking in the landscape and talking to
local people\, Mary and Lynne have sought to understand the historical\,
contemporary and future issues that have shaped and will shape the area\,
and express these through a series of exhibitions. These exhibitions have
been held in venues as diverse as a derelict steading in The Cabrach and t
he grandeur of major city buildings. Mary will discuss the practicalities
of this process from writing the initial proposal\, through raising funds
and securing venues to staging the exhibitions.
