This workshop will look at placing the figure in an invented space to examine and deconstruct the basic elements of figurative painting.
Starting with the fundamental practice of drawing and painting a figure, students will move on to deconstruct their observational work and find their own way of abstracting what they see.
The course will cover how to create an illusionistic space and integrate the figure into it.
There will be a focus on each student finding a visual language that connects the figure and surrounding space and exploring how the artist can reveal elements of an image’s construction.
Clear instruction, demonstrations where necessary, and slides will be shown by the tutor.
All materials and refreshments will be provided. However, please being along a packed lunch
