Figurative Course: Drawing and Painting from the Life Model

Thursday afternoons from 3 to 5pm at the Moray Art Centre from 8th January to 26th March 2026 (half term holiday 19th Feb.)
with Kenneth Le Riche RSW SSA
“The supreme misfortune is when theory outstrips performance” (Leonardo da Vinci). In this 11-week practical course, students will be led through a series of traditional and modern approaches to drawing and painting from the life model, working through monochrome and into colour using a wide variety of art materials. It is a practical course but some relevant artists through the ages from Prehistoric Cave Paintings to contemporary figurative drawing and painting will be looked at as a source of inspiration. The course is designed to help students acquire the ‘tools’ to explore their own visual method of representing the figure with a view to creating strong and confident drawings and paintings. In addition there will also be some portraiture and printmaking from life. The classes are suitable for all levels from complete beginners to those with experience who want a refresher course.
All materials including easels and drawing boards are provided.
Refreshments included.
Course fee: £286
