Explore the art of watercolour painting with Rob Wigham. Learn how to capture the beauty of nature in your works with a two-day ‘Snow and Trees’ workshop. With the expert guidance of a professional artist, you’ll be creating stunning landscape views of both trees and snowy scenes for you to take home and keep.
10:30 – 4:30 Saturday & Sunday
Stretched watercolour paper of around A3 size or slightly larger on a suitable board will be required.
If you have your own art materials, please bring them along as it will help you to work with your own things. However, we will supply a range of pigments and brushes as required if you don’t already have them.
The two-day course will provide personalised instruction, mentorship and support for new or intermediate-grade watercolour painters, and we’ll be concentrating on painting trees – always a tricky subject in watercolour – in a simple but effective style, as well as painting a warm snowy scene – perhaps appropriate in February!
This will allow us not only to produce a couple of nice paintings but will cover as many of the general aspects of watercolour as possible to make it a really useful day!
No previous watercolour experience is necessary but Rob will try to work with you to make the most of whatever experience in the medium you might have already. We will work using a series of demonstrations of each stage, followed by your own painting of that stage. Rob will be on hand throughout with friendly advice and help so that hopefully everyone will produce an accomplished painting by the end of the day!
About Rob:
Rob is a self-taught watercolour artist who, after many years of learning the medium as a hobby during his career as an RAF pilot, turned professional 11 years ago after leaving the Service. Since then he has produced hundreds of paintings of the Moray area and coastline, mostly landscapes and seascapes which have also been added to Rob’s extensive range of fine art giclee prints. He also paints military aircraft and sometimes, when his arm is twisted, pet portraits! His work is known for its detail as well as for its bright colours and impactful contrast of tones.
Rob is also an experienced teacher
Rob’s work is in private collections around the world and he and his wife, Sharon, supply their range of high-quality prints from their home workshop in Mosstodloch, near Fochabers.
PLEASE NOTE: All of our workshops require a minimum number of participants for them to run.
