This summer school will look at how to sketch, draw and paint on location in the stunning Moray landscape.
Exploring a variety of techniques and materials we will look at how to collect information and respond to the landscape through mark making in the landscape. There will also be opportunities to look at how to work up images in a studio environment. I will provide demonstrations on location and illustrations of a variety of artists who also work en plein air. Specialised easels will be provided.
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Jonathan is a professional plein air painter based north of Inverness where he focuses on the landscape of the highlands. Jonathan, a graduate of Grays School of Art, Aberdeen, holds a BA (Hons) in painting and drawing. His accolades include the Sir Robin Phillipson Memorial Medal for painting and the John Kinross Scholarship to Florence.
He has completed residencies at Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen, and Fundacion Valparaiso, Almeria, Spain. Settled in the Highlands, Jonathan’s artistic journey includes a solo exhibition in London and being shortlisted for the Jolomo Landscape Award.
