Event Type

Discover the expressive power of flowers in this immersive five-day workshop that blends observation, creativity, and inspiration from great artists. Working with fresh blooms each day, you’ll explore drawing, painting, design, and mixed-media techniques to uncover how flowers can be both natural forms and symbols of imagination.
Throughout the week, you’ll encounter flowers in art history and context, guided by examples from artists such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Elizabeth Blackadder, Odilon Redon, Georgia O’Keeffe, Monet, Hilma af Klint, and Yayoi Kusama. Each day will balance practical exercises with discussion of these artists’ approaches, giving insight into how flowers have been represented and reimagined across time.
Led by Helen A. Noyce — experienced artist and teacher — the workshop is taught in a supportive and encouraging environment. Helen’s approach blends technical guidance with space for experimentation, helping participants develop confidence, play with ideas, and discover their own creative voice.
The structure includes daily warm-ups, demonstrations, personal project time, and a reflective sharing session at the end of each day. This workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced artists who want to deepen their practice, explore new approaches, and discover the endless creative possibilities of flowers.

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Helen studied fine art at Edinburgh College of Art and has a particular interest in the abstracted landscape. Her work is a journey of personal enquiry & discovery through experimentation & mixed media, allowing an exploration of spiritual, philosophical and psychological states. Her aim as an artist is to capture a sense of beauty, awe, spontaneity, light and life, inspired by nature. Recent works have taken her on a new path and are based on a deep interest in psychology where high vibrating emotions are explored such as peace, bliss and abundance. She has been a selected member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art, exhibiting in London including Bankside. Helen has been teaching art for over 20 years.
