Learn how to record your journeys through drawing, creating a sketchbook full of life and memory.
Drawing in a notebook to capture the experiences of a journey -or simply the moments of everyday life- leaves a trace on every page, a record that becomes memory. Looking back through a sketchbook created some time ago can bring back the colours, sounds, and even the scents of that moment, as vividly as if they were happening now.
In this two-day workshop, we will follow a route between Findhorn and Forres with our sketchbooks in hand. Along the way, you’ll learn how to translate your personal experiences into drawings, capturing on each page the unique essence of what you alone perceive and feel during your travels.
All levels are welcome.
All materials including sketchbooks and refreshments provided.
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Dr Rebeca Font is an artist, scenographer, and architect from Barcelona, now based in Forres, Scotland. She holds a PhD in Art from Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton (UK), and a degree in Architecture from the ETSAB- Barcelona School of Architecture (Spain).
She lectures on undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Design, teaching in the areas of Art (Tools, Materials and Techniques), Spatial Design, and Graphic Design.
Her research explores the relationship between body and environment, focusing on drawing, movement, and light as forms of communication, interpretation, and development. She has led workshops, collective experiences, and talks on spatial perception and understanding through drawing in Barcelona, England, India, China and Argentina.
Her artistic practice includes works, projections, and performances that interweave drawing, calligraphy, and language -including a collaborative performance with Zhang Qiang at Tate Modern, Tate Exchange, London.
