Demonstrations of painting techniques will be given throughout the weekend, as will one on one tutorials and group discussions. Georgia will guide you towards experimenting in liberating ways, by introducing concepts and ideas which will help you stretch your vocabulary as a painter and warrant exciting results.
On Saturday morning, the focus will be ‘getting out of the intellectual, reactive, judgemental head, and into the sensations of the body- letting the intuitive action of painting lead the process’. Unconventional painting tools and some quick activities will be offered to help remove any preconceived notions of what the outcome might be. You will also prepare a range of surfaces, and explore underpainting in a range of exciting colours. Saturday afternoon will focus on playing with colour pigments, exploring different painting techniques and thinking about how to translate source material into finished work.
Sunday takes you on a journey from preliminary paintings to a final one. A group discussion will take place in the late afternoon, about the work that has been made over the weekend. This will provide a useful space to critique everyone’s individual works and each person’s body of work, as a whole.
