This 11-week course on Thursdays invites individuals who are already creating their own work to develop and expand their art practice under the guidance of experienced tutor and practicing artist, Kenneth Le Riche.
This is a practical course that will be structured around participants continuing their own work whether that be drawing, painting, and/or mixed media. There will be individual tutorials which aim to identify the essence and direction of each participant’s art practice and devise strategies to take it forward. The course will provide participants with critical feedback on their practice, introduce new practical skills and advice on how to push their work further – to ultimately express an authentic uniqueness through the visual language that is their work. Ideas and aesthetics will be explored while developing elements of composition including line, tone, form, texture, colour, emphasis, unity, rhythm and pictorial space. New materials and methods will be introduced. There will be discussions and PowerPoint presentations showing relevant artists’ works as guiding lights.
A range of core materials is provided; including pencils, graphite sticks, willow charcoal, compressed charcoal, chalk, ink, pastels, acrylic paints, oil paints, solvents, binders, wax, sand, soot, pigments and paper. Easels and drawing boards are also provided. Participants may wish to bring any additional materials of their choice.
