In this workshop, we will be taking inspiration from 3 great British artists and their approach to the landscape!
Join artist Helen A Noyce on a journey to widen expressive approaches when interpreting the landscape. This 5 day course will scrutinise the loose & evocative style of Joan Eardley; the semi abstract & surrealist interpretations of Graham Sutherland, and the suggestive, spontaneous collages of John Piper, inspiring you to explore impulsive and open mark making in your own work.
What to expect over the 5 days:
The week will be divided into 3 equal sessions, each starting with a talk by Helen on the artist in hand. Time will be given to a practical task where you will explore expressive mark making techniques used by the artist using a variety of materials, techniques and tools, including ink, watercolour, acrylic, papers, sand, grass, wax resist, impasto, palette knife and sticks. A full day will be dedicated for the creation of art work in the style of each artist.
