Using the historic photographic process of cyanotype you will be guided by Jill Welham to create a selection of beautiful botanical images on paper and fabric. This course will teach you how to make traditional blue and white photograms and how to tone your images to change the background colours.
Jill will then guide you through the exciting experimental process of wet cyanotypes, creating botanical images that appear to float on the surface with a range of colours, tones and textures. This process produces some wonderful loose and abstract compositions and encourages you to be less controlled and accept serendipity in your work.
These techniques will then be transferred to creating cyanotypes on fabric where you will be guided to create your own unique piece of fabric art. Jill will introduce you to the basic technique to turn your piece of fabric into a beautiful lampshade.
This 3-day course is suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience.
